Showroom reflectivity. Service bay survival.

An auto dealership runs two completely different floor environments under one roof — showroom needs reflective, brand-on-brand polish; service bay needs chemical, hot-tire and impact resistance. Same building, different specs, often the same install window.

— TL;DR

The five-second answer.

  • Cost $5–$14/sq ft depending on zone (showroom vs. bay).
  • Showroom: polished concrete or metallic epoxy for brand reflectivity.
  • Service bay: polyaspartic with flake or solid epoxy with OSHA striping.
  • Night-phase install windows standard — your floor opens at 7 a.m.
— The problem

Two environments. One contractor. One install window.

Dealerships try to solve showroom and service bay flooring with one product, and one of the two zones gets short-changed. Tile in the showroom looks dated against the brand standards in two years. Painted service bay floors fail under hot tires and ATF in 12 months. The right answer is two engineered systems, phased night-install so the floor is open at 7 a.m. for inventory delivery, and a transition detail that's mechanical not topical. We've done this without closing the dealership.

What we engineer around.

Substrate, environment, downtime — every spec gets evaluated before product is selected.

Two-zone spec

Showroom and service bay are quoted as separate systems with a documented transition detail at the threshold.

Night-phase install

Crews work 7 p.m.–7 a.m. with light containment. Showroom open for the morning team. Phased over zones if needed.

Hot-tire chemistry

Aliphatic polyaspartic in service bays — aromatic epoxy will lift under hot tires within months.

OSHA striping

Safety striping installed in-coating (not painted on after) for traffic lanes and equipment outlines.

Brand color match

Showroom metallic or pigmented systems can be tuned to OEM color spec where required.

Service bay slip

Aggregate broadcast to ANSI A326.3 DCOF 0.6+ wet — non-negotiable for liability in the service zone.

— Typical timeline

Showroom: 3–5 nights. Service bay: 4–6 nights. Phased so neither zone closes the dealership during business hours.

— Typical cost range

$5–$14/sq ft depending on zone. Showroom polish at the low end; bay polyaspartic with flake at the mid; metallic showroom at the high end.

Final spec quoted on-site after substrate evaluation.

— Frequently asked

Specifics matter.

Can you really install without closing the dealership?
+
Yes — this is most of the dealership work we do. Crews start at 7 p.m. when the service bay closes, work overnight with HEPA-filtered grinders and light containment, finish before 7 a.m. when service opens and inventory delivery starts. Showroom phases in 1,500–2,500 sf nightly zones with temporary barriers. We've installed full dealerships under this schedule without lost service hours.
What system holds up to hot tires and ATF?
+
Aliphatic polyaspartic with vinyl-flake broadcast and a polyaspartic top coat is the durable answer. Hot tires don't lift it (aromatic epoxy will). Spilled ATF, brake fluid, gasoline and degreaser wipe off without staining. The flake gives slip resistance to ANSI A326.3 DCOF 0.6+ wet, which the dealership's liability carrier will ask for. Lifespan in a working bay is 15–20 years before re-coat.
Can the showroom floor match our brand color?
+
Metallic epoxy and pigmented polished concrete can both be tuned to OEM brand spec — we've matched specific dealership brand colors in custom-blended metallic basecoats. Sample is approved against the printed brand standard before pour. Polished concrete is more limited (substrate color drives) but pigmented polishable overlays open the full color range when needed.
What's the warranty?
+
Showroom polished concrete: 10-year workmanship warranty. Showroom metallic: 10-year UV / hot-tire / adhesion. Service bay polyaspartic: 15-year UV and adhesion warranty against delamination and hot-tire pickup. All warranties are documented on the project file with manufacturer and installer co-signatures.
